Simple ways to improve your Resume:-
- State the tasks you performed and the results achieved. Express in quantitative terms.
- Prepare customized resume for different job titles even if you are eligible for several job titles.
- HR Professionals / Employers sort resumes electronically look for relevant keywords for the post. Spray them.
- Briefly mention your most marketable skills and experience to let the new employer know how far you are valuable to him.
- Employers glance for 15-20 seconds over resume. So be concise and to the point.
- Try to avoid italic and bold formatting and stylish fonts.
- Do not exaggerate skills as employers verify the same at the time of interview and/or by antecedent verification.
- Indicate your responsibilities as the title with appropriate terms.
- Start each sentence with a descriptive action verb - as such as managed, supervised, achieved, generated, planned etc.
- Do not use abbreviations or acronyms of Schools, Cities, Business Terms, Abbreviations and Titles completely. Mention in full.
- Use simple descriptive sentences to make a point.
- Ensure you resume is free from spelling / typographical errors, especially in emails. Proofread Resume carefully.
- Use white space, use bullets to highlight main points.
- Avoid designs, color links and clipart.
- State solid accomplishments and leave salary negotiations until you are offered a position.
- Unless asked for, never state why you left the ex-employers.
- Update your resume twice in a year so you can apply for promotions or new positions at a moment's notice.
