Nightmares - What? Why?

Nightmares are generally more emotionally intense than bad dreams and is usually how they are distinguished is that a nightmare will cause the person directly to awaken because of the nature of the unpleasant images or the intensity of the emotions. Here are some ins and outs of 'nightmares':-

  • Men tend to dream of natural disasters while women dream of relationship troubles in nightmares.

  • Nightmares are relatively common and in most cases a healthy psychological experience.

  • Recurrent nightmares can be a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder or some other psychiatric health issue, but in most cases they are unrelated to mental illness.

  • Nightmares can give rise to a number of other negative emotions, including helplessness, despair, guilt and anger, allowing the mind to process these feelings as well.

  • The most common nightmare themes include insects and vermin, falling, being chased, death of family and friends, interpersonal conflict and violence, feeling an 'evil presence' and health-related concerns.

  • All dreams carry information about sub-conscious (and often sex-related) desired and fears. Disasters turned out to be a common nightmare theme.

  • Men are more likely to dream of catastrophe and men tend to have war and terriorism show up more often in their dreams.

  • The biggest problem with nightmares is usually that they can impair sleep quality and cause next-day drowsiness.

  • When nightmares are frequent and severe, the individual may suffer from nightmare disorder, which is a type of 'parasomnia'.

  • Other forms of 'parasomnia include sleep terrors, causing the person to sit up and cry out or to attempt to escape from the room, while still asleep.

What is Thyroid Disorder? Solution.

Thyroid Disorders are quite common in adolescents and easy to treat. Delayed or lack of diagnosis can have serious consequences on growth and puberty and result in infertility later in life.

  • Thyroid gland is a very small and important gland located in the frontal part of the neck. It secretes the thyroid hormone, metabolism, bone development and pubertal changes.

  • Any dysfunction can have an impact on multiple organs of the body. Iodine is necessary for making this hormone.

  • When the thyroid hormone is under-active and fails to make sufficient hormone, it is called hypothyroidism.

  • Symptoms of hypothyroidism are : Excessive Weight Gain, Depression, Anemia, Dry Skin, Constipation, Poor Physical Growth, Delayed Puberty, Irregular Menstrual Cycles & Lethargy and Sluggishness.

  • There is a common condition in teenage girls where the body's immune system attacks the thyroid gland, so the gland fails to make sufficient hormone and becomes enlarged, resulting in a swelling in front of the neck known as goiter.

  • In case of 'Hyperthyroidism', the gland becomes overactive, producing excess of hormone. This is not very common in teenagers. Some of the common symptoms of this are : Loss of weight, Bulging Eyes, Palpitation, Heat Intolerance, Menstrual Disturbances, Muscle Weakness & Fatigue Thyroid Nodule or Goiter.

  • If you suspect that you could be having a thyroid disorder, consult the doctor to get the right diagnosis, as the treatment depends on the cause.

  • Blood tests and other investigations to determine the cause are followed by treatment with thyroid hormone supplementation. Sometimes, surgery may be required, in which case a part of the thyroid gland may be removed.

Why Entrepreneurs Should Have FB Groups?

Leading entrepreneurs launch their own Facebook groups to support their business goals and it is making a major impact on their bottom-line. Here are the reasons:-

  • By hosting a group, entrepreneurs can make themselves more accessible by connecting with their network on a regular basis. Prospects have an opportunity to get to know the entrepreneur in a way that feels genuine and personal.

  • A Facebook group can attract like-minded people who share a common goal or vision - which helps people feel connected. This strategy will lead to an increase in sales and new business opportunities.

  • Trust is a tough thing for entrepreneurs to develop especially in the online environment. Developing trust online is a social proof showing up consistently and being authentic about what they do and how they help people. This can be done relatively easily with a content strategy and editorial calendar of content that gets posted in a consistent manner.

  • The owner of the group guides the conversation in the group, helps people navigate challenges and supports them with content and conversation that helps them get closer to their goals.

  • By connecting online after an offline event with a facebook group invite, the entrepreneur can now have multiple opportunities to stay top of mind and nurture their relationships so that when the timing is right their contact is ready to buy from them.

  • Facebook group environment encourages sharing and conversing ultimately making everybody that participates more or less relatable. People work with people they know, like and trust.

  • Facebook can be a great place to get feedback, seek product reviews and promote newly released products to a loyal audience. Some entrepreneurs create a private or secret group to enhance their current service or product offering to connect their customer pool online, creating a community of people who have similar interest.

  • A group that shares and supports content with a common goal or theme will ultimately connect through the posts and the comment threads within the facebook group.

  • To sum up, creating and running a Facebook group is not for the faint of heart. It requires a long-term commitment to produce content and engage on a regular and ongoing basis. It helps to unite its members in an ongoing discussion and place where they can hang out, connect, be inspired and learn, leading to more sales and meaningful connections to last.
